The Supervisory board of AS “Latvijas balzams” is
bewildered at the pro-Kremlin position of the broadcast „Nothing
personal” (“Nekā personīga”) at TV3 on September 5, 2010, at
the TV spot regarding the possibility of a residence permit issue
to Mr. Yury Shefler, the owner of AS „Latvijas balzams”;
furthermore that information was distributed widely by Latvian
printed press.
Turns out, the broadcast “Nekā personīga” supports the
prosecution of Russian government authorities against the
entrepreneur Mr. Yury Shefler that he obtained the rights on
Stolichnaya, Moskovskaya and other popular vodka brands, and
transferred the production of those famous vodkas to
Riga.
SPI Group as the leading shareholder of AS “Latvijas
balzams” despite the severe economic environment in Latvia,
continues substantial investments into Latvian economics; during
last three years it had paid 100 million lats in taxes into the
state budget and ensured approximately 1000 work
places.
At the same time a large-scale construction project “Z
Towers” is carried on, where the major role is dedicated to local
construction companies, ensuring work places for the construction
industry, which is in critical situation now.
During 5 years AS “Latvijas balzams” together with Yury
Shefler’s Children Fund donated more than 200 thousand lats for
Latvian orphanages and for the development of Latvian
sports.
We consider that the conduct of the broadcast „Nekā
personīga” is miserable and opposite to the economic concerns of
Latvia, which is turned against the businessmen and donators, as
well as against the deputies of Saeima, who support the state
interests and attract investments.
